  • What training are you doing on a regular basis to improve your sales performance?
  • What research are you doing to become more knowledgeable about your profession?
  • Who are your mentors? Who do you admire? Do you study the success of others?
  • Do you prepare and practice for each sales encounter or do you simply just show up?
  • Are you truly committed to your own sales success? Where are you on a 0-10 scale?
  • Are you are survivor?

Here are the top 10 reasons business owners and executives with business development responsibilities do not win the race for new clients:

  1. They do not have a prospecting process/system to work on every day.
  2. They are not disciplined and do not exercise consistent business development behaviors. There is NO accountability. They are reactive not proactive.
  3. They don't have written goals. They don't dream.
  4. They want to be involved but are not truly committed. The next time you have breakfast, which includes eggs and bacon think about thisthe chicken was involved and the pig was committed.
  5. They makeup a lot of excuses. If the sale doesnt happen its always someone elses fault including a poor economy.
  6. They are not passionate about their own success in business development and sales.
  7. They do not focus on results. They focus on work. They do not focus on daily achievements. They focus on the daily grind.
